Yep, as it looks I have posted 2 moms for the month of October, I was caught off guard by how busy I was this September so now I'm playing catch up.
I would like you all to meet Carrie and her beautiful family. I have recently had the privilege of getting to know Carrie and see her first hand with her kids. I'm grateful for her friendship and her example of motherhood to me. With all that being said, I give you Carrie.
Tell me a little about your family.
My family........There's my amazing husband, Justin. I am one of the blessed, lucky few to have the husband I do. Then there's my three beautiful kids. Brynlie is almost 10 and is one of the most mature, responsible, and helpful girls around! I couldn't do half the things I do without her help. Caleb is almost 8 and is one of those easy to love boys! He is a good boy, and seems to have friends everywhere he goes. Ashlyn is my "baby" and is 6. She is our miracle baby, and has been a light in our family from the day she was born.
What do you all do for fun together?
I'm a pretty low-key kinda person...so my family probably misses out on doing a lot of fun things. We like to go to the movies, or stay in and have a movie/treat night, go on family walks and hikes, and of course travel! We do several "staycations" every year, staying a night in cities as close as Ogden and SLC and exploring the activities close by. We try to do 1 bigger vacation every year, too. We like to watch sport games, and play in the backyard.
What do you LOVE about being a mom?
I love being a mom because I get to be reminded every day to just enjoy life. My kids keep me busy and there's always a mess to clean up, but they also show me how to laugh, and how to forgive, and how to try new things, and how to love unconditionally. They give my life more purpose, and keep me thinking about someone besides myself! I always wanted to grow up and be a mom. It's the ideal job, and I'm happy!
What do you struggle with?
I struggle knowing that I am so responsible for teaching my kids everything they need to grow up and be responsible, good adults. I worry I might mess them up! I struggle getting to everything every day. Most days my laundry is piled up, and dishes are in the sink!
What's your favorite hobby?
I like to take pictures, but I have so much to learn! I like to work on the computer and create my own Christmas cards, and yearly calendars, and birthday invitations, etc.
What are a few things you are trying hardest to teach all of your kids that you feel like you have to get right?
I really try to teach my kids that life isn't fair, and it never will be. Things will happen to them that they don't like. They need to figure out how to be a happy and nice person even when bad or "unfair" things happen. Most important, I want them to never judge another person. I try to teach my kids that you don't know what is really going on in someone's life. Be kind, and give people a second chance.
What do you do on those days you want to rip your hair out?
I usually have to find a get-a-way from my kids! Sometimes it's as simple as going into my garage, getting in my car, locking the doors, and blasting my music! I can't hear them, they can't get in to bug me
A bubble bath at the end of the day is always a good relaxer too!
Favorite family memory?
I really love all time spent with my family, but one of my favorite family memories is probably our first trip to Disneyland. We had one of those picture perfect trips. The kids were at a magical age, the trip went flawless, and we had a blast together!
