Village Terms of Use

Effective October 25, 2026

These terms are the rules for using Village, an iPhone and iPad app for organizing individual and group (“villages”) activities. Village is made by Christopher Chodaczek (“we”, “us”). By creating an account or using Village, you agree to these terms and to the Village Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use Village.

The short version

1. Who can use Village

You must be 18 or older. Apple confirms this when you sign up. Village is invite-only: a new account can be used once a current member vouches for you. Use your real name, keep one account for yourself, and keep your password (and two-step verification, if you turn it on) private. You're responsible for what happens under your account.

2. What isn't allowed

Village is for real groups of people who know each other. Don't post, send, or share anything that:

Also don't try to get around Village's safety features (blocking, the word filter, photo checks, vouching), break into accounts or our servers, or use Village to collect information about people.

3. Reporting, blocking and moderation

You can report a post, reply, photo, message, or person, and block anyone, from inside the app. Village managers can remove posts and members in their villages. The Village team reviews reports, normally within 24 hours, and may remove content and suspend or remove any account that breaks these terms, with or without warning. Because members vouch for each other, the member who vouched for a removed account is told, and their account may be reviewed too.

4. Your content

You own what you post. By posting it, you give Village permission to store it, copy it as needed to run the service (for example, backups and smaller versions of photos), and show it to the people you shared it with: the members of that village or chat, or anyone on Village for a public square. This permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies that others already saved, threads and replies that stay in their village (shown as “A villager”), and backups that expire on their own (see the Privacy Policy, section 9).

5. Villages and managers

A village's manager (and any co-managers) decide its settings, who may join, and what may be posted, and can remove members and posts. Managers must follow these terms too. Public squares can be found and joined by anyone on Village, and only their managers post in them.

6. Events, sign-ups and meeting in person

Village helps people plan things together, but we don't run, check, or supervise any event, sign-up, task, or meeting arranged through it, and we aren't responsible for what happens there. Use the same care you would anywhere else when meeting people or sharing your plans.

7. My Office (Em, Val and Mo)

My Office answers questions using Apple Intelligence on your device. Its answers can be incomplete or wrong: check anything important, such as dates and times, in the village itself.

8. The app itself

Village is provided “as is” and “as available”. We work to keep it running and your information safe, but we can't promise it will always be available, error-free, or that nothing will ever be lost. We may change, add, or remove features. To the fullest extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of Village, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us for Village (Village is free, so that is zero). Nothing in these terms limits rights you have that the law doesn't allow us to limit.

Village is distributed through Apple's App Store and TestFlight. Apple's own terms for those services also apply, and Apple is not responsible for Village or its content.

9. Ending your use

You can stop using Village and delete your account at any time in the app (Account → Delete Account). We may suspend or remove an account that breaks these terms or puts other members at risk.

10. Changes to these terms

If we change these terms, we'll post the new version here and update the date at the top. For a big change, we'll also tell you in the app. Using Village after a change means you accept it.
